The table below lists common supply-related messages and error codes for HP LaserJet printers, what they mean, and how to fix them.
Note: This guide covers the most common error codes. Some codes not listed here may appear on your printer.

10.0004 / 10.1004 - Supply Memory Error (Imaging Drum)
The printer cannot communicate with the imaging drum.
1. Turn the printer off and then on.
2. Remove and reinstall the imaging drum.
3. If the error continues, replace the imaging drum.
10.000X / 10.100X - Supply Memory Error (Toner Cartridge)
The printer cannot communicate with one of the toner cartridges.
X = 0 (Black), 1 (Cyan), 2 (Magenta), 3 (Yellow).
1. Turn the printer off and then on.
2. Check that the cartridge is installed correctly.
3. Remove and reinstall the cartridge.
4. If the issue continues, replace the cartridge.
10.330X - Used (X) Supply
A used toner cartridge is installed.
X = 0 (Black), 1 (Cyan), 2 (Magenta), 3 (Yellow).
Replace the toner cartridge.
Note: This may appear if a low genuine HP cartridge was used in another printer. The printer may still print, but the supply will show as "No consumable life".
10.700X - Toner Cartridge Life Expired
The toner cartridge has reached the end of its life.
X = 0 (Black), 1 (Cyan), 2 (Magenta), 3 (Yellow).
Replace the toner cartridge.
10.7100 - Color Cartridge Life Expired
One color cartridge has reached the end of its life. Printing continues in black only.
Replace the toner cartridge.
10.8100 - Black Cartridge Life Expired
The black cartridge has reached the end of its life. The printer will stop printing in black.
Replace the toner cartridge.
Cartridge is Low
The toner cartridge is running low.
Have a replacement cartridge ready.
Note: You can change when this message appears.
Cartridge is Very Low
The cartridge has almost no toner left.
Replace the toner cartridge.
Note: The printer can still print but print quality may drop. Warranty has ended.
Cartridge Missing
A toner cartridge is not installed.
Check and reinstall the toner cartridge correctly.
Used <color> Cartridge Installed
A used or refilled cartridge is installed.
Install a genuine HP cartridge.
Note: This may also appear if a low genuine HP was moved from another printer.
Used Cartridges Installed / Used Supplies in Use
Multiple used or refilled cartridges are installed.
Install genuine HP toner cartridges.
10.400X - Genuine HP Supplies Installed
A genuine HP toner cartridge has been detected.
X = 0 (Black), 1 (Cyan), 2 (Magenta), 3 (Yellow).
No action needed. This is for information only.
10.310X - Non-HP Supplies Installed
A non-HP toner cartridge has been detected.
X = 0 (Black), 1 (Cyan), 2 (Magenta), 3 (Yellow).
Install a genuine HP toner cartridge.
