Paper Jams in the Output Bin - HP LaserJet Pro M402dn
Paper jams in the Output Bin usually occur when sheets stack incorrectly or get caught near the exit rollers. Fortunately, these jams are quick and simple to clear if you follow these steps.
Note: Always turn off the printer and unplug the power cord before inspecting inside to ensure your safety.
Steps 1: Check the Output Bin
If paper is visible in the output bin, grasp the leading edge of the sheet and slowly pull it out toward you.
Avoid tearing the paper--small pieces left inside can cause future jams.

Step 2: Open the Rear Door
Locate the rear-door release latch and open the rear door fully to access the paper path behind the printer.

Step 3: Remove Any Jammed Paper from the Rear Door Area
Gently pull out any jammed or partially fed sheets you see in this area.
Use both hands and pull evenly to avoid tearing the paper.

Step 4: Close the Rear Door
Once the jammed paper has been removed, close the rear door firmly until it clicks securely into place.

After You're Done, Plug the printer back in, turn in on, and try printing again. If the jam recurs, check for worn exit rollers, curled paper, or obstructions in the output path.
📌 Important Notes to Remember
Remove Paper Gently: Use both hands to pull paper out slowly and evenly.
Let the Printer Cool: The output area can be warm after printing--wait a minute before clearing jams.
Check for Hidden Scraps: Small bits of paper in the exit rollers can cause repeated jams.
Use Proper Paper: Ensure paper type and weight match the printer settings, and store paper in a dry place.
